Welcome to Arborplan Arboriculture Consultants, a Victorian-based arboricultural consulting business specialising predominantly in the construction sector. We provide expert tree advice and comprehensive arborist services for both residential and commercial projects across Melbourne, Victoria, and beyond.
Founded in 2018 by Director Ricky Howell, Arborplan is built on more than a decade of hands-on experience in arboriculture. Ricky’s career began in early 2008, working for a residential arborist in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs. Starting as a climber and team leader, he gained qualifications and practical skills in pruning, removal, and plant health management.
In 2012, Ricky transitioned to the commercial sector, working with major companies such as Downer EDI and Melbourne Water on rail corridors and waterways projects. He later joined a local government contract with the City of Whittlesea, where he began his Diploma of Arboriculture in 2015. There, he worked extensively as a consulting arborist, developing expertise in stakeholder engagement and managing complex tree issues within the municipality.
Since 2016, Ricky has worked predominantly as a practicing consulting arborist, authoring thousands of arboricultural reports and advising on hundreds of projects throughout Victoria, South Australia, and New South Wales. He has also provided expert council advice during several recent court hearings.
